Development log 2.2
Development Log 2.2 โ or How We Learned to Stop Worrying and Start Fixing Stuff
Our team returned from work.
We sat at his computer.
We all knew exactly what he wanted to do.
We had a list. A glorious list.
A list of tasks that would finally make the game feel like something other than a stiff mannequin stumbling through IKEA.
But as we read, and looked at the listโฆ and wondered:
Were we actually going to do these things?
Or just write them down, again and again, forever?
Well, letโs pretend heโll do them.
Hereโs the list.
The Headboneโs Connected to the Whatnow?
- Add HeadIK, so the playerโs neck stops behaving like a rusty swivel chair.
- Change model pivot lerp from
cameraLerp
to acceleration โ physics, baby. - Fix the choppy camera motion while moving. No more nausea for Stanley.
Tools of the Trade (and Regret)
- Fix flashlight IK (currently behaves like itโs partying on its own).
- Generalise flashlight into a reusable ToolIK system.
- Implement a proper tool inventory โ no more carrying a toolbox in each pocket.
Elevators, Doors & Other Existential Mechanisms
- Elevator system implemented.
- Review elevator functionality.
- Review and fix door interaction logic.
- Add object interaction with rigidbodies.
- Remove baked lights from movable objects.
Interaction Feedback
- Actually implement interaction prompt.
- Add outline shader or solution to indicate interactable objects.
Sound Effects That Go โThunk!โ
- Add SFX for falling objects.
- Consider other interaction SFX as needed.
The Camera Conundrum
- Remove
camera.scene
โ it should be a prefab, not an object made of primitives. - Replace with a proper camera model.
โIt was just for easy access,โ Jungwook said.
And so, it remainedโฆ until someone cared enough to delete it.
Special Thanks
To Niclas โ for code, feedback, and being the one person who never gave up on fixing the flashlight.
This devlog would be 20% shorter (and the game 50% buggier) without you.
